Holloman launches its F-22A Raptor for the first time

Holloman hosts exercise to stage realistic attack
Holloman Air Force Base will host a large force employment aerial exercise Thursday, Oct. 23, to hone the combat skills of its Airmen in a realistic training scenario.

F-22 line faces layoffs without more funding, senators say
Lockheed Martins F-22 production line will face serious disruptions, resulting in job lay-offs in Fort Worth, unless Congress quickly authorizes $523 million toward the purchase of additional F-22s, two Republican senators warned Thursday.

Sens. John Cornyn of Texas and James Inhofe of Oklahoma issued the warning in a letter to the leaders of the Senate Armed Services Committee as Congress moves toward approving a defense bill for the 2009 fiscal year that begins in October.

Edwards F-22 Raptor refuels using synthetic fuel
The F-22 Combined Test Force reached another milestone as an Edwards F-22 Raptor performed aerial refueling using a synthetic fuel. It is the first time an Air Force aircraft refueled mid-air using an alternative jet engine fuel.

The test was the culmination of Edwards test points in certifying the F-22's use of the fuel, a 50/50 mix of JP-8 jet fuel and a natural gas-based fuel.

Raptor crews practice drive-through refueling
Now that the F-22 Raptor arrival ceremonies are over and the anticipation of the arrival has subsided, Airmen here are on an aggressive training schedule to prepare them for combat operations.
